As a Program Assistant for TSA, you will:
Provide a range of diverse administrative support assignments that include spending a minimum of 25% of time assisting managers in evaluating programs and their effectiveness in delivering services. You will perform a combination of routine and multiple and varying assignments in support of management efforts to evaluate, administer, and improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of organizations and programs.Provide assistance to a program area which may include finance, human resources, model workplace, scheduling, or other core functional area. Work activities typically support multiple projects/programs and contribute to one or more organizational units and major subdivisions.Assist managers and other employees in day-to-day operations of the office.Compile, track, and analyze data. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience would include providing a range of diverse administrative support assignments assisting managers in implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of office programs such as human resources, payroll, finance, and procurement. Work would include activities such as analyzing data, preparing correspondence, working with computers, scheduling meetings, providing payroll advice, and tracking status of work projects.

Note: Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.

What is the name of the program?

The name of the program is SAP Skills for Africa. The pilot program was launched in 2012 and graduated 52 students. The program is now established and expected to run for five years from 2014 – 2019.

What is the program about?

The program offers SAP training and certification for students who graduated at the top of their class. Students who pass the certification exam are then placed into internships that will kick-start their career as SAP consultants. The program gives talented graduates an opportunity to develop skills that are relevant and in demand in Kenya’s market thus reducing unemployment among youth.

What is the aim of the program?

To graduate 100 consultants per year for the next five years.

Which courses should the students be undertaking?

The 2014 program will offer certification in Financial Accounting (FI) and Business Intelligence (BI). For the 2014 class candidates must possess a bachelor of Computer Science, Economics or a Business related degree with Financial Accounting. Future courses could include Human Capital Management (HCM), Materials Management (MM), Sales & Distribution (SD) or relevant courses in demand in East Africa.
The 2012/2013 class accepted students from all educational backgrounds.
Each year, SAP and ICT Authority will evaluate the market need before advertising which certificates will be sponsored. This is to ensure that students from SAP Skills for Africa are placed in internships as soon as they graduate.

Which University and what year should the student be in?

The student applying must be Kenyan national from any accredited and Chartered university.
For the 2014 class, candidates must have graduated between December 2011 and December 2014.

Who is eligible to apply?

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
  • Kenyan Nationals
  • currently unemployed graduates
  • possess a bachelor degree from an accredit university
  • graduated within the last 3 years with an upper 2nd or 1st class honors (or GPA 3.0 and higher)
  • interested in starting an SAP-related career involving travel
  • good grasp of both written and spoken English is essential
  • possess good problem solving capabilities, presentation skills and a general understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Available from 8am – 6pm from Monday to Friday throughout the training period (October – December)
  • their own means of transport to attend the training
  • to their own lodging/accommodation during the training period

Must I be a Kenyan citizen in order to apply?

Yes, the program is available to Kenyan citizens only.

What is the duration of the training and internship?

1. FINANCE OFFICER - COUNTY MGT (5 POSITIONS)
Responsible to the County Manager for effective planning and budgeting, as well as implementation and evaluation of an effective financial accountability system to ensure prudent management of the Society’s funds within the County. Specific duties include enforcing stringent financial controls and ensuring monthly financial reports are used for better financial management. Other duties include developing and coordinating the annual budget cycle that provides justification for financial resources needed to accomplish strategic objectives. In addition, responsible for ensuring compliance to statutory and regulatory requirements as well as advising management on measures to be taken to improve financial performance.
Minimum Qualifications

2. ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT (3 POSTS)
Responsible to the Manager – Finance Operations for maintaining records of financial transactions related to income and expenditure. Other duties include posting and compiling monthly reports to show records related to financial operations and validating checks in accordance with approved policy.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus CPA or equivalent qualifications
  • Over two (2) years’ relevant experience

3. PROJECT ACCOUNTANT (11 POSTS)
Responsible to the Finance Officer – County Mgt for maintaining records of financial transactions related to income and expenditure for their project. Other duties include reconciling and balancing accounts as well as posting and compiling monthly reports to show records related to financial operations of the project. Also receiving and disbursing money as well as processing and validating checks in accordance with approved policy.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus CPA or equivalent qualifications
  • Over two (2) years’ relevant experience

4. FLEET / EMS ANALYSIS OFFICER
Responsible to the Supply Chain and EMS Accountants for continually monitoring of the transportation department's efficiency and performance and look for ways to improve productivity, reduce errors, cut back on waste and bolster the company’s bottom line. They also set budgets for the transportation department and approve new acquisitions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business systems, accounting, computing, or related field
  • Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

5. RECEIVABLES ACCOUNTANT FLEET / EMS 
Responsible to the Supply Chain and EMS Accountants for effective management of accounts receivable, including the maintenance, review and updating the same in accordance with credit policy. Specific responsibilities include emailing invoices to customers; review and process credit memos, and reconcile customer receivable balances; review daily cash receipts and allocate payments against specific transactions for E-plus and Supply chain. The person will also be responsible for the PNS accounting and regional vehicle accounts for Supply Chain.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance plus CPA (ii) or equivalent qualifications
  • Over two (3) years experience in financial accounting

6. PAYABLES ACCOUNTANT FLEET / EMS
Responsible to the Supply Chain and EMS Accountants for effective processing and disbursement of payments by ensuring compliance to approved budgets and statutory tax requirements. Specific responsibilities include reviewing invoices creating proposals for payments and fund transfers to suppliers and counties as per resource allocation schedules. Other duties include, preparing and processing purchase orders, invoices, cheque requests, refund claims, payroll and other disbursements for payments. Also responsible for evaluating disbursement methods as well as providing guidance and recommendations to staff and management in order to resolve any queries relating to payments.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance plus CPA (ii) or equivalent qualifications
  • Over two (3) years experience in financial accounting
