The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a Security Group Leader who will be a member of Security team under Administration in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

General: ILRI works with partners worldwide to enhance the roles that livestock play in food security and poverty alleviation, principally in Africa and Asia. The outcomes of these research partnerships help people in developing countries keep their farm animals alive and productive, increase and sustain their livestock and farm productivity, find profitable markets for their animal products, and reduce the risk of livestock-related diseases.

A member of the CGIAR Consortium working for a food-secure future, ILRI has its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, a principal campus in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and offices in other countries in East, West and Southern Africa (Mali, Mozambique and Nigeria) and in South Asia (India and Sri Lanka), Southeast Asia (Laos, Thailand and Vietnam) and East Asia (China). http://www.ilri.org.

Job Purpose: This position is responsible for safeguarding of ILRI’s physical resources and security of staff, eligible dependents and other campus users.

Purpose of the position: The Communications Officer plays an integral role by communicating the relevance of our mission, disseminating the results and significance of our work and engaging a diverse range of audiences and partners. Broadly, the purpose of the role is to strengthen TrustAfrica’s reputation, deepen its resources and amplify its contribution to African philanthropy, good governance and equitable development.

Responsibilities:

The Communications Officer will lead the development and implementation of TrustAfrica’s communications strategy, aiming to:

Raise TrustAfrica’s profile and strengthen its reputation as a leader in its areas of focus.Mainstream a robust communications strategy across the organization’s programs.Integrate the different thematic databases into state-of-the-art electronic portals or knowledge hubs.Deploy new information and communication technologies to transform TrustAfrica’s databases.Develop a digital communications strategy that incorporates TrustAfrica’s website, intranet, and social media as tools for learning and engagement.Create a multiyear communications plan to support program implementation and institutional presence.

Qualifications:

Passion for and expertise in how to use technology and innovation to further African agency and social justice.Big picture thinker with demonstrated practical experience in translating vision and strategy into coherent objectives and activities.An enabler, a connector, someone who is able to facilitate the communications process across the organization.A superb communicator. Strong writing and editing ability in English. Capacity to speak and write in French would be an added advantage.A team player, coach, a helper with ability to work sensitively and collaboratively in a collegial environment and with people based in various locations.A postgraduate degree in communication, media or related disciplines, preferably with a focus on one of TrustAfrica’s core program areas.Capacity to interact with new forms of media and audience engagement strategies as well as evaluation and analytics.At least 7 years of professional experience in communications, including experience in building, managing and setting the strategic direction of a team.Proven track record in developing high quality publications, articles, and different types of creative text related to TrustAfrica’s issue areas.Desired: Experience with a regional or international NGO or a knowledge-generating institution that works to influence policy.

Communication and Outreach Officer vacancy - Moldova Social Innovation Hub Project - Chisinau

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the UNDP Portfolio Manager, the Communication and Outreach Officer contributes to the effective and efficient implementation of the Social Innovation Hub. The incumbent applies and promotes the principles of results-based management (RBM), as well as a client-oriented approach consistent with UNDP rules and regulations.

The Communication and Outreach Officer works in close collaboration with the Research Officer, and the Team of the Projects Implementing Unit , as well as other project teams in the Country Office (CO) for effective achievement of results, anticipating and resolving complex programme/project-related issues and information delivery.

The incumbent is expected to exercise full compliance with UNDP programming, financial, procurement and administrative rules, regulations, policies and strategies, as well as implementation of the effective internal control systems.

Summary of Key Functions:

The Communication and Outreach Officer, under the overall supervision and guidance of the Policy Specialist and in close cooperation with the e-Government Center of Moldova, will be responsible for managing the successful implementation of communication and outreach activities of the Innovation Hub. The Communication and Outreach Officer may coordinate short-term experts’ activity.

The incumbent will ensure the provision of development services and products (commensurate with the scope of the project) of the highest quality and standards to national counterparts and clients. The Officer is expected to identify, develop, test and deliver prototypes, projects and programmes that support practical innovation in defined fields, including modernization of public service design and delivery, in close collaboration with external partners.

More specifically, the Officer will perform the following functions:
Co-manage, with the Research Officer, the day-to-day operations of the InnoHub;Be responsible for the implementation of the Project work plan according to indicators for achieving planned results, as well as for the overall management of the Project in accordance to prevailing UNDP rules, regulations and procedures;Assume full responsibility for and manage effectively and efficiently all InnoHub communications and outreach activities and resources (human, financial, physical / material assets, etc) in order to meet expected results;Develop, together with the Research Officer, the InnoHub activity and procurement work plans as well as budgets based on expected outputs, develop and submit to the UNDP Policy Specialist periodical activities and other reports;Identify the most interesting innovations applicable to the development sector in Moldova and outreach for the relevant actors, as well as respond to requests from colleagues for research in defined fields;Identify target audiences and develop and implement strategies for engaging and influencing them;Develop InnoHub’s online community, by engaging with stakeholders via social media and other venues;Manage InnoHub’s social media accounts;Provide analytical, and administrative support in the delivery of events, workshops and seminars, as well as prototyping;Maintain the evidence of workshops and seminars delivered in support of Hub’s concepts, Government counterparts and UNDP colleagues; as well as evidence of networking and outreach activities undertaken to increase Hub’s footprint in social innovation field in the country;Ensure that InnoHub “works out loud” to ensure visibility, outreach and presentation of results of InnoHub’s activities; ensure increased hits on the website and reach of the social media accounts, as well as evidence of visual content;Support UNDP Policy Specialist in mainstreaming innovation into UNDP programming;Support enhancing the activity of InnoHub, and promotion of innovation among UNDP staff more broadly;Use the previous experience with design thinking, gaming for development and behavioral science to support scaling up these initiatives in the public sector;Build partnerships with non-traditional development players (start-ups, incubators, bottom-up citizens’ initiatives, etc.) and lead in Hub’s outreach activities;Apply UNDP programming tools and policies as explained in the Results Management Guide. Keep abreast of UNDP programming practices and maintain an optimum level of knowledge by continuous learning.Develop Final Evaluation notes after the piloting of each approach/project (results achieved, lessons learned, recommendations for similar future projects).
