Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationships: These positions are mainly located in various offices of UN-Habitat, the United Nations agency for human settlements.
UN-Habitat helps the urban poor by transforming cities into safer,
healthier, greener places with better opportunities where everyone can
live with dignity. These positions work with organizations at every
level, including all spheres of government, civil society and the
private sector to help build, manage, plan and finance sustainable
urban development.
The Habitat Programme Manager (HPM) is accountable to the Director
of the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP), coordinates
with the UN Resident Representative and works in close collaboration
with the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA). Day-to day supervision of the
work performed by the HPM is provided by the CTA in Sri Lanka.
The focus of these positions is on normative/ substantive and
operational responsibilities through active participation in activities
at the country level, aligned with UN-Habitat’s mandate, objectives,
focus areas and expected results. Positions my be responsible for a
single substantive project in a country, or be responsible for the
overall management, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of all
programmes and projects implemented by UN-Habitat within a country.
