Today I would like to share with you the
Security Field opened job positions within United Nations.
All the positions advertised here are related to
Security Field. Candidates who usually got these kind of positions in United Nations have previous experience in
Police, Law Enforcement Agencies and Military Personnel.
The main difference between Inspira and this listing is that we made
an effort and researched for an estimated salary, as we understand
payment is a very important decision factor amongst candidates, and the
values are not clearly specified in Inspira.
To achieve the values, I used as reference the U.N. Human Resources
Portal, the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) website, the
OHRM website, and the following spreadsheets provided by them:
base01-2015.xls - Base salary for Professional and Higher Categories Staff.
fsbase01-2015.xls - Base salary for Field Service.
CIRC PAC#488 - Memorandum about Post Adjustment.
vien28g.xls - General Service salaries of staff based on Vienna.
In my humble opinion, the information should not be spread through
three different websites and in lots of different documents. My
suggestion is that U.N. could organize this a little better, so it could
be easier for people to fetch information.
For the calculations, I used the lowest GROSS annual payment for each
category. In other words, the salary for a single person in the
beginning of his/her career. Salary may increase due to family, children
 and career progression, for example.

POST ADJUSTMENT
CALCULATIONS: The Post Adjustment is given to staff
members in the Professional and higher categories and in the Field
Service category who are assigned to a duty station for one year or
more;
** In United Nations – International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) website, I could not find the post adjustment for Kosovo.
I would like to emphasize that, usually, Professional and higher
categories require a Master Degree. In some cases, a university degree
and working experience in the area can be used
in lieu of the
MSc. degree. Another important point is that General Service positions
are recruited in a local basis. Hence, U.N. gives preference for those
who already have residence in the duty station.
Applications are processed via U.N. Inspira system
