Our Client is a Mechanical Engineering Company currently recruiting an ICT Technical Support Supervisor.
The IT Technical Support Supervisor is responsible for installing and maintaining computer hardware, software and networks.
Scope:
The IT Technical Support Supervisor reports to the Chief Finance Office and manages and provides hardware and software maintenance, training and consultation, and recommendations about future planning and development of resources.
Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure maximum access to and implementation of technology services and resources.

Support Supervisor Job Summary of Responsibilities in Kenya

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software and network operating system
  • Be familiar with all hardware and software
  • Be familiar with network operating system
  • Provide orientation to new users of existing technology
  • Provide individual training and support on request
  • Provide network accounts and passwords as required
  • Input and maintain IP addresses
  • Ensure installation of lock out programs
  • Identify and prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate
  • Ensure hardware is stripped and secured before disposal
  • Provide recommendations about accessing information and support
  • Troubleshoot all technology issues
  • Provide network access to all staff
  • Install work stations
  • Connect and set-up hardware
  • Any other IT and communication work as directed by your manager
  • Details of Main Activities
Manage IT and computer systems
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of information systems and electronic data processing (EDP)
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for electronic data processing and computer systems operations and development
  • Meet with departments head to discuss system requirements, specifications, costs and timelines
  • Recommend for hiring information systems personnel and contractors to design, develop, implement, operate and administer computer and telecommunications software, networks and information systems
  • Assist in Control the computer systems budgets and expenditures
Ensure technology is accessible and equipped with current hardware and software
Hardware:
  • Be familiar with all the existing hardware
  • Troubleshoot and repair where necessary all hardware equipment
  • Recommend and facilitate procurement of any replacement or upgrades required after approval by CEO.
  • Provide recommendations about accessing information and support
  • Maintain current and accurate inventory of hardware and related resources
  • Maintain log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance
  • Connect and set up hardware
  • Identify and prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate
  • Ensure hardware is stripped and secured before disposal
  • Prepare a maintenance schedule of all hardware
  • Carry out periodic maintenance of all the hardware as per schedule
Software
  • Be familiar with all the existing software
  • Troubleshoot and solve where necessary all software
  • Recommend and facilitate procurement of any replacement or upgrades required after approval by CEO
  • Maintain current and accurate inventory of software and related resources
  • Maintain log and/or list of all trouble shoots and solutions
  • Load all required software on new hardware
  • Prepare a maintenance schedule of all software
  • Carry out periodic maintenance of all the software as per schedule
Networking & Server
  • Be familiar with network operating system
  • Troubleshoot and resolve where necessary the network operating system
  • Maintain log and/or list of required repairs, maintenance, network access
  • Provide network access to all staff
  • Install work stations
  • Install and maintain Foolproof and passwords
  • Maintain and update all company master lists on the server.
  • Create master folders and users to be accessed from the server.
  • Manage the local Area Network (LAN)
  • Manage and ensure that Internet Services are running efficiently
  • Ensure periodic backup of all the data and information from the server to an external source.
  • Input and maintain IP addresses for the server and ISP
Security
  • Monitor security of all technology
  • Provide network accounts and passwords as required
  • Periodically change network passwords
  • Monitor logs of access to the server
  • Ensure that the firewall is running efficiently.
  • Advise staff of security breach and/or change in password or security status
  • Ensure installation of lock out programs
Google Apps
  • To ensure that Google Apps is the standard for all communication and sharing of information.
  • To ensure all staff adhere to the policies, standards and formats of reports approved by the senior management.
  • Ensure that Google mail is the standard mail application for all the staff.
  • Ensure all staff utilise Google drive for submitting daily, weekly and monthly reports in the approved formats.
  • Ensure that Google chat is the preferred chat between the staff of Mutsimoto.
  • Manage the Google Apps when changes occur after approval by the CEO.
  • Advise staff of security breach and/or change in password or security status.
  • Recommend and advise additional applications that are useful and available in Google Apps.
  • Ensure that Google Apps are renewed on due date.
Training
  • Provide orientation to new users of existing technology
  • Train staff about potential uses of existing technology
  • Train staff about new and potential use of new technologies
  • Provide individual training and support on request
Other Main Activities
  • Troubleshoot all technology issues
  • Maintain log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance
  • Make recommendations about purchase of technology resources.
  • Prepare, recommend and review new and existing policies, standards, reports and structures for IT utilisation for maximum efficiency.
Perform other related duties as required by the management

Qualifications for Support Supervisor Kenyan Jobs

  • Degree or advance diploma in information technology.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent understanding of all facets of computer troubleshooting and ICT vendor management.
Experience:
  • 5 years of working in a similar position and providing top-level Technical IT support is a busy organization
  • Proven ability to administer help-desks, enterprise antivirus, data backup and recovery, configuring and troubleshooting Windows servers & desktop, monitoring & maintaining LAN and WAN
  • Hand-on experience in IT budgeting and control
Salary: 50,000 – 75,000
