The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Limited is a State Corporation established under
the Companies Act (CAP 486) of the Laws of Kenya to provide efficient, reliable, safe
and cost effective means of transporting petroleum products from Mombasa to the
hinterland.
In pursuit of this objective, the Company is looking for qualified, highly motivated
and results oriented candidates to fill the following vacant positions:

1. CHIEF ENGINEER (PROJECTS) (JOB GROUP 3) – 1 POST
Location: PS 10 (Nairobi Terminal)
Reporting to the Projects Manager
Overall Job Purpose
Responsible for design and implementation of multi-disciplinary projects while
ensuring quality at optimal time and cost.
Job Profile
 Responsible for design of assigned engineering projects to ensure that they
efficiently meet the intended purpose through effective guidance to both staff in
the section and consultants.
 Prepare procurement documents for consultancy services and ensure that
Client’s needs are included in the documents.
 Co-ordinate review of all documents submitted by the design consultants to
ensure compliance with the contracts and that best practices in the industry
have been used.
 Co-ordinate collection of data for in-house design, design and preparation of
tender and contract documents for contractors.
 Co-ordinate the preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly and project status
report.
 Review payment certificates for consultancy services.
 Co-ordinate the maintenance of updated project computer database on all
assigned projects.
 Respond to sectional inputs for compilation and review of annual budgets and
strategic corporate plans as and when due.
 Provide technical leadership to teams to enable them develop, and evaluate
strategic management plans and budgets aimed at improving performance
standards and organizational effectiveness.

 Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff in order to ensure that

 Review incidents of violations against organizational policy and regulations

Person Profile
 Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Construction Engineering.
 Minimum eight (8) years’ relevant experience gained in Project Management operations during design and implementation
 Registered and licensed as Professional Engineer with EBK.
 Membership to a relevant professional body e.g. IEK.

2. ENGINEER II (OPERATIONS) (JOB GROUP 6) - 3 POSTS
Location: VTTI (Mombasa), PS 8 (Konza), PS 1 (Mombasa), PS 5 (Mtito Andei)
Reporting to the Depot Manager
Overall Job Purpose
To supervise and coordinate the deployment and administration of operations staff at the depot for efficient operation of the pipeline and liaises with the Maintenance Sections on timely correction and repair of equipment ensuring availability at all times.
Job Profile
 Ensure safe and efficient receipts of products.
 Ensure that product transfers to OMC’s are carried out accurately and efficiently.
 Follow up on equipment defects and programmed maintenance to ensure they are accomplished and equipment safely handed over for Operations use
 Arrange for month-end stock taking.
 Prepare specifications for material procurement; carry out evaluations and material inspections. Ensure availability of consumable stock items in the stores.

 Ensure corrosion inhibitor dosage in the right quantity to achieve the required concentration for pipeline internal protection.
 Ensure adherence to safety procedures in the depot.
 Prepare weekly and monthly reports covering product receipts and deliveries and other pertinent issues at the depot.
 Provide training to new staff, students on attachment and visiting institutions.

 Prepare the necessary reports for product movements and inventories in a timely manner.
 In liaison with Assistant Operations Manager/Senior shift Engineer, ensures proper deployment of shift staff, leave arrangements and payment of allowances.
 Maintain good house-keeping within the tank farm, interceptor and control room as to ensure safety
 Maintain meter calibration program in liaison with the Assistant Operations Manager.
Person Profile
 Minimum of six (6) years relevant experience
 Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil Engineering or recognized equivalent
 Registered as Graduate Engineer with EBK.

8. ASSISTANT CHEMIST (JOB GROUP 7) - 5 POSTS
Location: Quality Control Section
Reporting to the Senior Chemist
Overall Job Purpose
Confirmation of the Quality of petroleum products handled by KPC, performing lab tests on the petroleum products, analyzing the results and making conclusions.
Job Profile
 Perform tests in all grades of petroleum products
 Analyse test results and make conclusions
 Ensure test equipment are available
 Advise the company on slop management

9. SENIOR TECHNICIAN (AIRWING) (JOB GROUP 7) - 1 POST
Location: Nairobi Terminal
Reporting to the Chief Pilot
Overall Job Purpose
Responsible for effective and efficient operations of the Company aircrafts through preventive and breakdown maintenance
Job Profile
 Ensure timely repairs are carried out on equipment both in the field and in the workshop.
 Carry out repair works.
 Carry out routine maintenance works.
 Write regular maintenance reports of assigned duties.
 Ensure equipment functioning as required.
 Liaise with other maintenance sections for suitable approach to maintenance tasks which are cross cutting.

10. LABORATORY TECHNICIAN III (JOB GROUP 10) - 10 POSTS

To carry out testing of all petroleum products and to ensure smooth running and proper house-keeping of Petroleum products testing Laboratories in KPC system
Job Profile
 Testing of Petroleum products and comparing the obtained results with TSA or applicable quality specifications.
 Ensuring proper housekeeping in the laboratory
 Supervising the staff below to ensure they meet their targets
 Ensure slops are disposed effectively with due regard to product quality.
 Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance of measurement and monitoring records
 Timely preparation of section’s periodic report
 Ensuring Equipment functionality and availability
 Co-ordinates the Proficiency Testing Programmes
Person Profile
 Minimum two (2) years relevant experience.
 Diploma in Analytical Chemistry/Applied Chemistry/ Industrial Chemistry

11. TECHNICIAN III (SHIFT OPERATIONS) (JOB GROUP 10) - 10 POSTS
Location: PS 27 (Eldoret), PS 9 (Embakasi), PS 26 (Sinendet)
Reporting to the Shift Controller/Loading Supervisor/Senior Technicians
Overall Job Purpose
Operation of Station equipment and monitoring of processes to facilitate efficient movement of products and ensure that pumping operation in the station is carried out safely and in accordance to set procedures and parameters.
Job Profile
 Operate the field equipment as may be directed by the Station Controller.
 Monitor product levels in dump tanks and the interceptor as required and arrange for their off-loading as directed by the Station Controller.

 Maintain checks on the field equipment status and good in-house keeping and keep a log in a clear manner.
 Man the station during Telemetry failure.
 Monitor line pressure and pump parameters and liaises with NCC on the same for smooth operations of the line.
 Raise defect notifications to relevant sections to attend to defective equipment.
 Report incidences and unusual events to various levels of authority as appropriate.
 Attend to ESD occurrences.
 Maintain and record shift events in the logbook in clear manner.
Person Profile

12. TECHNICIAN III (LOADING OPERATIONS) (JOB GROUP 10) - 4 POSTS
Location: PS 27 (Eldoret)
Reporting to the Shift Controller/Loading Supervisor/Senior Technicians
Overall Job Purpose
Operation of Station equipment and monitoring of processes to facilitate efficient movement of products and ensure that pumping operation in the station is carried out safely and in accordance to set procedures and parameters.
Job Profile
 Liaises with stock control on OMC’s stock entitlement and advices Customer care Officer and Pipecor on the same.
 Validates loading orders and forwards to Operations Engineer for authorization.
 Checks FAN tickets against respective loading Orders.
 Maintains an update record of trucks.
 Updates Fuel Facs data base by entering additional trucks, transporters or OMCs.
 Liaises with Pipecor/OMCs on issues relating to orders e.g. expired insurances, licenses, PTA and Calibration charts.
 Liaises with Loading Supervisor in case any problem such as stored transaction and report the same to Operations Engineer.
Person Profile
 Minimum three (3) years’ relevant experience.

Overall Job Purpose
Operation of Station equipment and monitoring of processes to facilitate efficient movement of products and ensure that pumping operation in the station is carried out safely and in accordance to set procedures and parameters.
Job Profile
 Ensure proper running of station’s electrical installations through coordinating and directing the activities of staff in the station.
 Co-ordinate the repairs and maintenance of all electrical equipment/systems to ensure that downtime is minimized.
 Ensure that power generated is of acceptable voltage and frequency.
 Inspect all equipment in the station and ensure that preventive maintenance of all electrical equipment is well scheduled, carried out and documented.
 Prepare an annual operating and maintenance budget for the station for management approval.
 Prepare documentation for procurement of spares parts needed for all electrical equipment operations.
 Attend to issues related to overall power supply and distribution matters to company premises, housing estates and outstations.
 Ensure safe use of all electrical equipment, availability of necessary accessories and also ensure safety of all KPC staff and electrical equipment.
 Maintain a duty roster of all staff in the station and report on staff utility rates in the section.
 Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff in order to ensure that the candidates selected have the required job competencies and are provided with orientation and induction programme necessary for effective job performance.

Reporting to the Security Supervisor
Overall Job Purpose
Job Profile
 Guarding and patrol duties;
 Maintaining security registers and occurrence books;
 Guiding visitors and direction on parking of their vehicles;
 Ascertaining validity of goods leaving company premises and installations;
 Arresting suspected offenders; and
 Assisting in firefighting.
Person Profile
 be in possession of a minimum of mean grade D- in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its accepted equivalent;
 be of good physique and mental fitness;
 have a minimum chest measurement of 32 inches (81.28 centimetres) and minimum height of 5 feet 6 inches (1.675 centimetres) or more; and
 have a clean record of discharge from any of Kenya’s disciplined forces.
