Job Title:    Mapping & GIS Intern
Reports to:    Bernard Gaughan
Location:    ICT Department
Contract Length:    9 months
Learning Outcomes:
    The intern will gain practical experience in building mapping systems, uploading and disseminating data, data analysis and project management for use in the NGO sector.
The intern will receive formal/informal training in the following technologies;
•         ESRI Mapping systems
•         Data collection platforms
•         Project Management
•         Business Case writing
•         Presentations
On completion the intern will have attained skills in all of the above, which are useful in many industries.
Main duties &
Responsibilities:
•Work with key staff to gather and analyse program data.
•    Upload data to mapping system.
•    Encourage usage of the system.
•    Work with project manager to develop mapping portal.
Person specification:
    Professional demeanour. Good communication skills and telephone manner.
Must have GIS/Survey qualification with knowledge of GPS equipment use and handling, position data analysis and some prior knowledge of documenting evidence.
Background & desirable criteria:     Qualification in Mapping and GIS
ESRI training (optional)

Concern receives a substantial amount of funding from external donors each year.  Increasingly donors are introducing requirements whereby future funding is conditional on Concern ensuring that the names of any new employee or volunteer do not appear on terrorism lists generated by the European Union (List of person, groups and entities to which Regulation (EC No. 2580/2001 applies), the US Government (Office of Foreign Assets Control list of specially designated Nationals and Blocked Persons) and the United Nations (Consolidated List).
