Job summary
|
The Managing
Director shall report to the Board of Directors and his key responsibility
shall be to lead the process of execution of the strategic plan with full
accountability for results.
|
Key responsibilities
will include
|
·
Develop a strategic plan for the agribusiness line in consultation
with the Board
·
Develop a competent and motivated management team
·
Spear-head the implementation of the approved strategy for the
business line with full accountability for the delivery of the agreed metrics
·
Manage stakeholder relationships.
·
Identify and close on new opportunities for business
development.
·
Manage the agricultural projects in the business line to
ensure operational efficiency, commercial viability and harnessing synergies
across the projects
·
Undertake initial and continuous market analysis on the
agribusiness environment to ensure that we are always in line with our vision
and strategic plan
·
Work closely with the legal and risk managers to develop and
implement an evaluation and monitoring framework including KPIs
·
Report monthly, quarterly and annually on progress of all
project activities to the board and appropriate stakeholders
·
Work closely with our corporate affairs to engage key
stakeholders and maintain the relationship.
·
Engage with government and policy makers to ensure success of
business line’s work
·
Work with the players in the agriculture supply chain to
develop relationships with the different players in creating an effective and
integrated supply chain for the business’s upstream and mid stream
activities.
Educational Requirements
|
·
A masters or at
least an undergraduate degree in agriculture, agronomy, agribusiness,
agriculture economics or related fields.
·
Professional qualifications in financial analysis;
CPA/ACCA/CFA or CIMA will be an added advantage
|
Related job experience/qualifications
|
·
A passion for agriculture coupled with enthusiasm and the
energy to build a new business
·
Minimum of Ten years experience in agribusiness management
with a demonstration of success in developing commercially successful and sustainable
agricultural enterprises.
·
Demonstrable track record of entrepreneurship and an ability
to translate ideas into reality
·
Experience in building and managing teams and demonstrated
project management skills to function effectively in multi-disciplinary teams
·
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and an ability to
work with broad array of agriculture sector players
