About the Agency

The Office of Inspector General (OIG), works within the U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to promote efficiency and effectiveness, and prevent or stop waste, fraud and abuse in departmental programs. We do this through audits and investigations. OIG also consults with the Congress about programs in progress and proposed new laws and regulations. The Inspector General Act of 1978 gives the Office of Inspector General autonomy to do its work without interference. OIG carries out its mission by issuing audit reports, evaluations, management advisories, and other products with findings and recommendations to improve program delivery and performance.

You will develop and work with customer groups to design and implement technology solutions using custom off-the-shelf (COTS) software and custom code to automate and enhance business processes. In accomplishing this, you will lead efforts with regards to software analysis, designing and developing new systems or modifying existing ones, documenting solutions and maintaining the implementations. You will also resolve any critical issues affecting the configuration of the information technology (IT) infrastructure that is developed, and conduct information requirements analysis to identify priority areas for improvement of current systems and applications.

To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience includes: experience designing, analyzing, integrating, developing, migrating, testing, implementing and maintaining Microsoft Sharepoint platform.

In addition to meeting the specialized experience, applicants must show proficiency in the competencies listed below:

1. Attention to Detail: is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to details.

2. Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individual who use or receive the services or products that your work unit producers, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government, to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

3.
