Action Against Hunger has been present in
Kenya since 2001. Currently, ACF Kenya Mission isimplementing Nutrition,
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programs in West Pokot, Isiolo, Tana River andGarissa
counties, including Dadaab refugee camps.
Action Against Hunger has the following vacancies in the field of
WASH:

WASH Program Manager-West Pokot County
·
WATSAN Officer-West Pokot County
·
WATSAN Officer-Tana River County
1) WASH Programme
Manager, West Pokot County (1 position)
ACF Kenya is looking for a dynamic, ambitious
and innovative candidate with technical and managerial skills to lead a fast growing
Water Sanitation and Hygiene program in West Pokot.The role of the Program Manager
will be to identify and implement high quality and relevant water, sanitation
and hygiene activities with a high coverage, in line with the internationally
accepted standards, ACF’s technical guidelines and by national policies. The manager will directly report to the
Head of Department and will overseetwo WASH officers to carry out community assessments,
technical surveys, construction of water points (such as piped networks,
boreholes, and shallow wells), emergency interventions where required,
scaling up sanitation, health promotion, partnerships/consortia/local NGOs,
coordination at County level, monitoring and evaluation of the project.
Key Responsibilities
·
Project management (including staff and budget
management)
·
Identify needs and contribute to project formulation and
evolution
·
Ensure the implementation, monitoring and reporting of WASH
projects
·
Contribute to program quality and accountability
processes and measure program impact
·
Participate in the coordination, representation, and
partnerships of ACF in his/her area of intervention including Counties and Sub Counties
·
Contribute to knowledge capitalization and technical
development in his/her sector
·
Contribute to consultations on strategy and the
positioning of the WASH DepartmentCreate
synergies with other ACF programs in West Pokot (Nutrition, Resilience)
Qualifications and Experience
·
At least Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering/water
engineering/structural engineering with extensive experience in water,
sanitation and public health
·
More than 5years’ work experience in ahumanitarian
context, with a focus on long term and resilience building programming.
·
Experience with emergency response programs
·
Extensive experience in community project management
including funds, monitoring and evaluation
·
Good knowledge and experience in community mobilization,
participation, capacity building
·
Ability to work independently, under pressure and within
strict time limits
·
·
Ensure program integration with nutrition activities
·
Knowledge on GIS, AutoCAD is desirable
2) WATSAN Officer, West
Pokot County (1 position) and Tana River County (1 position)
ACF Kenya is looking for a person who is
flexible, self-motivated, ambitious, result oriented with technical skills in
Water and Sanitation Projects. The WATSAN Officer will directly oversee all
construction activities related to water and sanitation in consultation with
the County water and public health authorities. The Officer will directly
report to the WASH Program Manager and will supervise activities carried out by
contractors or community members during assessments, technical surveys,
construction of water points (such as piped networks, boreholes, and shallow wells)
and sanitation facilities in schools to the agreed specifications.
Key Responsibilities

Design and develop water and sanitation projects plan
·
Lead, supervise and manage construction activities through
contracts and carry out community trainings
·
Contribute to program quality and accountability
processes
·
Ensure program monitoring and reporting of WASH
activities
Qualifications and Experience
·
At least diploma in water/construction with extensive
experience in water and sanitation field activities
·
At least 3 years’ experience in development/construction
of water systems/points and sanitation facilities in rural communities
·
Experience in developing theBoQs, work plan, and good in
conducting assessments
·
Proven experience in developing project execution
contracts and supervision
·
Proven experience in conducting training using
participatory adult learning methodologies
·
Excellent reporting, organization, communication and
analytical skills
·
Ability to work and coordinate with County authorities
3) Public Health
Officer, Tana River County (1 position)
ACF Kenya is looking for a person who is
flexible, self-motivated, ambitious, result oriented with technical skills in
promotion of public health in rural communities. The Public Health Promotion
Officer will directly oversee public health promotion activities and scaling
up of sanitation in the community in partnership with County Public Health
office. The PHP Officer will report directly to the WASH Program Manager and
will supervise liaise with the public health actors to deliver heath messages
to the communities and schools as well as supporting CLTS activities at
project sites.
Key Responsibilities

Design and develop health and sanitation project plan
·
Lead, supervise and manage community trainings on hygiene
and sanitation and follow up
·
Contribute to program quality and accountability
processes
·
Monitoring and evaluation of the health promotion
activities and outcomes
·
Ensure program integration with nutrition activities
Qualifications and Experience
·
At least diploma in public health with extensive
experience in health promotion and sanitation field activities
·
At least 3 years’ experience in hygiene and sanitation
promotion activities in rural communities
·
Experience in developing the project workplan, and good
in conducting assessments
·
Proven experience in conducting training using
participatory adult learning methodologies
·
Excellent reporting, organization, communication and
analytical skills
·
Ability to work and coordinate with County authorities
