world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has been present in Somalia since early 2004 and has since expanded its Horn of Africa Programme to Kenya in 2006 and to Ethiopia in
2011. Since 2004, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has demonstrated a regional competence and expertise in working with displaced populations.

The Regional Office is based in Nairobi, Kenya with offices and operations in Somalia (Puntland, Somaliland and Mogadishu), Kenya (Dadaab and Kakuma ), Ethiopia (Addis
Ababa, Dolo Ado, Shire,Gambella and Asosa), South Sudan (Juba, Awil, Alek and Aweril) and Yemen (Sa’naa and Aden).

The NRC Horn of Africa & Yemen mission is an expanding programme. NRC started its operations in Kenya in the refugee camps in Dadaab in February 2007. NRC has
WASH, Shelter, Education, Food Security and Livelihood and Information Counseling and Legal Assistant programmes implemented in the refugee camps in Dadaab.

The purpose of this internship is to provide a suitably qualified ICT graduate with the opportunity to work and gain experience with NRC Nairobi, specifically ICT unit. The
intern will provide assistance on NRC ICT tools, routine ICT support, network/system Security.

The selected candidate will be based in Nairobi and report directly to Roving ICT Coordinator

Job description

 Assisting in the ICT department in day-to-day administration, maintenance, and support of computer systems, networks and user helpdesk.

 Provide support to users on ICT related daily problem and network/system problem solving.

 Support ICT specialist on computer daily problem such as MS-Office, MS-Windows and Network connectivity.

 Support on the establishment/enhancement of wireless connectivity;

 Ensure that all the cables in the offices (networking and electrical) are properly trunked.

 Oversee the interfacing of printers, photocopying, fax machines with computer network.

 Responsible to monitor functioning of equipment to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications

 Ensure that all computers on the Network, including visitors’ are free from viruses and other bugs. 

 In liaison with the ICT Assistant, follow up on all scheduled Hardware services and maintenance as per the set timetable, confirming satisfactory completion after
each exercise.
