    Project Engineer in Appliance World Ltd, Uganda
        Introduction

        Appliance World Ltd, the authorized agents of LG Electronics in Uganda are looking to employ a project manager to fully manage HVAC / Air Conditioning projects from start to finish.

        Role Overview

        Appliance World Ltd is one of the largest and most prominent air conditioning company in Uganda. We are seeking to employ a project manager who has grown through the ranks to reach the level of project manager and has many years of 'hands on' experience in managing large air conditioning projects.

        The role is diversified and the duties include:


            Managing all 'ground level' aspects of a project from start to finish. This includes preparing a material requisition list, ensuring materials are purchased on time, coordinating with the department to ensure that you have enough technicians who are competent to carry out the works, supervising the works on site to see that they are done in accordance with the work program and ensuring that the quality of works in maintained, ensuring health and safety on site. Motivating technicians to work well and properly, as well as being strict on those who are not performing is an important part of the role.
            Managing all quality and troubleshooting aspects of a project. This includes checking all aspects of the work and ensuring that quality is excellent. In addition, during execution, you may find that technicians are not experienced enough in knowing what to do in a complex situation, you will be required to solve this problem by guiding them clearly. During commissioning of a project, you will be fully in charge of commissioning and troubleshooting.
            Managing all 'administrative' aspects of the project. This includes preparation of specifications of items to be used for the consultants approval, preparation of working drawings, preparing, updating and reviewing work programs, communicating with the consultant and contractor to update them on your progress and any works you are depending on by the contractor which are causing delays to your works, attending site meetings and preparing minutes for submission of the same, making applications for payments, following up on payments and seeing that we are paid on time.
            Managing all 'pre award' activities. This includes, preparing quotations for air conditioning requests, meeting consultants on clarifications required, responding to tender requests which have tight deadlines. Some clients ask us to design for an air conditioning solution by issuing us with an architectural drawing, you will be required to do this whilst using the assistance of engineers who have good AutoCAD skills.
            Reporting aspects of the role. These include, updating all concerned parties at a regular interval by proper written communication as to the project status, any requests and any delays you may be facing as a result of another party not completing his works on time.

        Skills & Experience Required

            Experience of at least 3 years in fully managing all aspects of medium to large HVAC projects.
            You must be technical in nature. In many instances, if you do not supervise works on a ground level, there may be shortcuts in quality of works. In addition, there are instances where the system is not performing as it should and the nature of the problem is complex. You must have enough experience of trouble shooting.
            You must be able to interpret architectural drawings, air conditioning design drawings, working drawings and as built drawings,
            In some cases, the person who designed for an air conditioning system may have made errors. You must have experience in spotting design errors, such as wrong sizing of units, grills, ducts. You must also be experienced in being able to ensure that quantities specified in the BOQ are reasonably accurate.
            Excellent leadership skills to lead a team is necessary. You must have at least 3 years of experience in leading a team.
            You must have worked in the 'building industry' whereby you are used to dealing with consultants and contractors.
            You must possess very good skills in being able to prepare work programs for projects, minutes for meetings and a lot of other correspondence which will take place throughout the course of a project.
            Deadlines can be tight and work pressure can be very high. Someone who is experience may understand what this means. You must be able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

    Backup Administrator

     3+ years of experience as a member of an IT support team, in deploying and supporting desktops in distributed environments
    Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
     Strong data collection skills
     Good communication skills and presentation skills
     Familiarity with ITIL, CMM or other standardized process framework
     Good all round IT skills including an in-depth understanding of PCs/laptops (e.g. HP, Toshiba, Sony, etc.).
     Good understanding of windows servers and networking hardware.
     Detailed knowledge of Microsoft products in an Active Directory environment.
     Experience in scheduling backups and restores, scripting, installing/reinstalling/removing storage arrays, disks, and cabling, maintaining integrity of data.

     Experience in diagnosing system performance using hardware operating system and database information to isolate, prevent or recover from system degradation or failure.
     Experience in monitoring, maintaining and managing the tape backup environment
     Experience with backup process management
     Experience in IT backend services (hands on experience in servers installation\\configuration\\administration, SANs
    installation\\administration) is a plus
     Veritas Certified Professional (Backup Exec 10 Administrator)
     Veritas Certified Professional (Data Protection Troubleshooting for Windows using NetBackup 5.x)
     Excellent English language skills; Arabic is of advantage
