The internship at the ESCAP East and North-East Asia (ENEA) Office located in Incheon, Republic of Korea, is for two months with an opportunity for extension, if required by the division.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the division or office to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
Interns will be assigned to conduct research on specific topics in one of the following areas and assist in the implementation of activities. Specific topics and works will be mutually agreed with his/her supervisor:
National socio-economic policies for social protection;Subregional connectivity including trade, investment and transport;Intra- and inter-subregional cooperation mechanisms on disaster risk reduction;Collaboration between policy makers and civil society in formulating and implementing socio-economic policiesDaily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:Assistance in drafting and preparing official documentsAttending and summarizing conferences and meetingsDocument, legal and internet researchAssistance during conferencesWorking on web-presentationEvaluation of projectsCompiling statisticsMedia analysisSpeech-writingCompetencies

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or

c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.
Work Experience

are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme;shall be computer literate in standard software applications;have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; andhave a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship, and fluency in spoken and written any language of ENEA member countries is preferred.
