This position is located in Air Traffic Control Division, Station Airfield Operations Department, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni Japan.  As Air Traffic Control Specialist you will provide Tower Control, Radar Approach Control, Aircraft Control Separation, and Ground Controlled Approach services to aircraft within the delegated airspace. You will ensure all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Naval (NAVAIR) Instructions, Marine Corps and Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) Instructions, International Civil Aviation Operations (JCAB) Facility publications and directives are adhered to.

Determine the interval to be used between approaching and departing aircraft considering all aspects of the air traffic control situation.

Coordinate between radar approach and control tower to establish the arrival and departure sequence of aircraft traffic.

Brief the tower watch on field conditions such as weather, traffic, and equipment status to ensure safe and orderly service.

Coordinate and direct the control of air traffic within assigned airspace and vehicular traffic operating on runways and taxiways to ensure procedures and standards are met.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

·   Experience assisting controllers and student controllers with operating positions in order to balance controller experience and proficiency with complexity of traffic.

·   Experience providing flight plan information for use by other controllers in the Control Tower to ensure proper procedures for aircraft separation.

·   Experience analyzing pilot orientation and direction to aircraft experiencing difficulties per set regulations and standards of protocol.

·   Experience issuing clearances and control instructions to provide separation between aircraft and vehicles operating under the jurisdiction of the Control Tower.

  REQUIREMENTS:

Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade.  All qualifications and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.
