VACANCY LIST NO. 02 of 2015

The Nakuru County Public Service Board wishes to invite applications from candidates who have the requisite qualifications to fill the following positions:-
1). NURSING OFFICER III; JG “H”
Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Duties will include assessing, planning, implementing nursing interventions and evaluating patients’ outcomes, providing appropriate healthcare service, referring patients and clients appropriately, maintaining records on patients’ health conditions and care, ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment and collecting and compiling data.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
a) A Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) from a recognized institution.
b) Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
c) Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya; and
d) Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution.
2). NURSING OFFICER I; JG “K”
Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Duties will include providing holistic care; assessing, formulating, planning and implementing evidence based nursing care for patients’, creating and maintaining a safe nursing care environment, carrying out patient audits, diagnosing common health conditions and recommending necessary interventions, etc.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
a) A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution;
b) Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;
c) Valid Practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya; and
d) Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution.
3). CLINICAL OFFICER III (GENERAL); JG “H”
Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Duties will involve seeing and examining patients, diagnosing and treating patients’ ailments, assist in planning and conducting Community Health Care activities, supervising and counseling staff, etc.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
a) A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C, with at least a C in Biology, English or Kiswahili and a C- in any two science subjects;
b) Successfully completed at least three (3) years pre-service training at a Medical Training College or any other recognized Medical Training Institution and have been awarded a Diploma in Clinical Medicine/Surgery or its equivalent; and with one year’s internship in a recognized hospital; and
c) Certificate of Registration from the Clinical Officers’ Council; and
d) Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution.
4). CLINICAL OFFICER I (ANESTHETIST); JG “K”
Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Duties will include the management of clinical services i.e. attending to patients, supervising clinical services and carrying out Community Health Care activities, etc.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
e) A Bachelor of Science Degree in Clinical Medicine (Anesthesia) from a recognized institution;
f) Certificate of Registration from the Clinical Officers’ Council; and
g) Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution
5). MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST II; JG “J”
Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Specific duties will involve investigations and diagnosing samples.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
a) A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C or its equivalent qualification with at least C in Biology or Biological Sciences, Chemistry or Physical Science, English or Kiswahili and C in Mathematics or Physics;
b) Successfully completed a three (3) Pre-Service Training at the Kenya Medical Training College or any other institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologists Board and have been awarded a Diploma in Medical Sciences; and
c) Served for at least three (3) years in the grade of Medical Laboratory Technologist III; and
d) Been registered by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.
6). MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST I; JG “K”
Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Duties will include advanced diagnostic investigations as well as planning, supervising and coordinating provision of medical laboratory service.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
a) A Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Medical Laboratory Sciences (Parasitology, Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Bacteriology, Histopathology, Immunology) or any other related or relevant field from any institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.
b) Been registered as a Medical Laboratory Technologist after undergoing and passing an institutional practical attachment programme approved by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.
7). NUTRITION OFFICER III; JG “H”
Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Duties will include planning, formulating and managing therapeutic diets, carrying out nutrition health education, preparation of monthly reports, etc.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
a) A Diploma in Nutrition from a recognized institution;
b) Been Registered with the Kenya Nutritionists & Dieticians Institute.
8). ORTHOPAEDIC TECHNOLOGIST III; JG “H”
Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Duties will include the provision of supportive services in orthopaedics which entail preparation and fitting of appliances that are required in orthopaedics in health institutions, assessing patient needs, verifying and maintaining patient information, etc.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
a) A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KSCE) mean grade of “C” or its equivalent;
b) Successfully completed at least three (3) years pre-service training at a Medical Training Centre and have been awarded a Diploma in Orthopaedic Technology or possess an equivalent qualification from any other recognized medical training institution.
9). HEALTH RECORDS AND INFORMATION OFFICER II; JG “H”
Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Duties will include the collection and tabulation (statistics) of medical data, admission procedures and making appointments for patients to the consultant’s clinics, custodian of health records and information, etc.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must: -
a) Be in a possession of a Diploma in Health Records and Information Management from the Kenya Medical Training College or other recognized medical training institution.
10). PHYSIOTHERAPIST III; JG “H”
Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Specific duties will involve treating/rehabilitating patients/clients.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
a) Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KSCE) mean grade of “C” or its equivalent;
b) Diploma in Physiotherapy from the Kenya Medical Training College or any other recognized institution.
c) A valid member of the Kenya Society of Physiotherapists (KSP).
11). PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNOLOGIST III; JG “H”
Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Specific duties will involve dispensing of drugs/medicines and counseling patients on drug usage in a unit pharmacy.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
a) A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade “C” or its approved equivalent with a “C” in Biology or Biological Sciences, a “C” in Chemistry or Physical Science and a “C” in English or Kiswahili. In addition he/she must possess a “C” in Physics or Mathematics;
OR
A Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) Division Two (II) with a credit pass in Chemistry or Physical Science, Biology and a credit in English or Kiswahili with a pass in Physics or Mathematics;
OR
An “A” Level Certificate with a principal pass in Chemistry or Biology and a subsidiary pass in either Physics or Mathematics;
b) Diploma in Pharmacy from the Kenya Medical Training College or any other recognized and approved institution;
c) A Registration Certificate on enrolment as a pharmaceutical technologist by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) as per the provisions of the Pharmacy and Poisons Act (Cap 244).
12). MEDICAL SOCIAL WORKER III; JG “H”
Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Specific duties will include addressing the psychosocial effects as related to patients’ diagnosis, prognosis and future resettlement and counseling of patients.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
c) Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade “C” or its equivalent qualification; and
d) Diploma in any of the following disciplines; Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, Mental Health or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
13). SUPPORT STAFF: JG “D”
Terms of Service: Terms of Service: Permanent and pensionable
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
a) A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Mean grade D Plain.
b) A working experience of at least three (3) years.
