PROGRAM BACKGROUND
The needs are great among people with disabilities and injuries in the refugee and displaced population. The Rehabilitation Program considers both conflict and non-conflict related injuries and disabilities. This includes rehabilitation of war-wounded persons as well as for those already disabled. Facilities for rehabilitation are minimal and difficult to access. The primary features of the post includes on the job training for Syrian physiotherapists and rehabilitation workers. This post will be based in southern Turkey and include frequent travel to relevant sites.
JOB SUMMARY
The Physiotherapist will ensure that people with injury and/or disability will receive appropriate rehabilitation services at the community level (house door services) as well as in existing rehabilitation centres. The therapist will train and manage at least two five-person rehabilitation teams. The therapist is responsible for on the job training of rehabilitation teams, rehabilitation workers at partner facilities, direct practice and team management including compliance with administrative procedures. The therapist will demonstrate and guarantee quality of care in all aspects of rehabilitation work, reporting, and community engagement.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
o Ensure all clientele receive appropriate rehabilitation services through:
o Training of local physiotherapist/rehabilitation workers
o Providing on-the-job training and support
o Direct practice
o Advise on assistive devices for clients and rehab material for centers
o Work with support teams to advise on appropriate vendors for materials
o Ensure beneficiaries and their families are involved in rehabilitation activities
o Team management: supervision, scheduling, administration
o Ensure rehabilitation activities monitoring and referral system
o Work closely with the rehab coordinator on the project implementation
o Represent IMC on rehabilitation issues
o Ensure the production of reports and that any lessons learnt can be documented both for internal use and for possible publication
o Work closely with the departments to offer a comprehensive and holistic response
o Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps
