Unfpa National Programme Analyst, Reproductive Health Commodity Security (rhcs) -

UNFPA Zimbabwe helps strengthen government and civil society?s capacity to promote communities, in particular women and young people, to access and utilize sexual and reproductive health services, with a focus on reducing maternal deaths, the unmet need for family planning, new HIV infections, and gender-based violence since 1981.

The National Programme Analyst (NPA), Reproductive Health Commodity Security (RHCS) is located in the Zimbabwe Country Office (CO) and is under the overall guidance of the UNFPA Representative and the direct supervision of the Technical Specialist, Maternal Health and Family Planning (FP).

The NPA/RHCS supervises and leads programme support staff, coordinates activities of Project staff and consultants, and ensures oversight of the work of Implementing Partners (IP).  S/He works in close collaboration with Operations staff, CO Programme Officers, and counterparts at the Regional Office and HQ as well as in other UN Organizations, technical staff in host government and civil society organizations to ensure successful implementation of UNFPA-supported programmes.

The NPA/RHCS contributes to the effective management of UNFPA programmes in support of national efforts to strengthen RHCS within existing programmes on maternal health, family planning, STI control, cervical cancer, etc. S/he works closely with the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC), the Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC), other national partners and coordinating bodies as well as development partners and civil society to enhance RHCS, including the management of supply chain systems.  Within the context of health system strengthening and financing, the NPA/RHCS analyses relevant political, social and economic environment and trends;  provides substantive inputs for the formulation, management, monitoring and evaluation of a comprehensive RHCS programme related activities; contributes to CO?s efforts in advocacy, policy advice/dialogue and resource mobilization in support of RHCS; provides technical support and contributes to building the capacity of national partners for the implementation of Country Programme activities.  S/He guides and facilitates the delivery of UNFPA?s programmes by monitoring results achieved against set targets.

The NPA/RHCS facilitates the work of consultants, advisors, experts, establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with counterparts in government, multi-lateral and bilateral donor agencies and civil society to address emerging issues.  S/he effectively influences counterparts from diverse backgrounds to jointly contribute to achieving UNFPA?s mandate.

Internal contacts include the Representative, Deputy Representative/ Assistant Representative, and CO?s programme/ technical staff. External contacts include counterparts in other UN agencies, government and civil society partners, including international NGOs, as well as colleagues at the Regional Office and HQ.
