Officer, Email and Mobile Engagement

The primary role of this position is managing the External Relations email and mobile program, including strategy, testing/optimization, logistics, execution analysis and reporting.  The Email and Mobile Engagement Officer reports directly to the Director of Digital Fundraising and Marketing.

Major Responsibilities:

Develop and implement email and mobile strategies to maximize supporter and subscriber file growth, engagement, and retention, as well as overall program return on investment;Oversee the on-time development of online appeals, SMS text messages, advocacy alerts, special invitations and other donor and supporter communications from conceptualization to execution to evaluation;Work closely with External Relations writing and design experts to assure compelling e-communications that are consistent with IRC messaging and brand standards;Identify opportunities to mobilize IRC supporters and external audiences to advocate for the protection of refugees, displaced people and other survivors of conflict or disaster;Partner with Director, Strategic Events, Officer, Digital Platforms, and other External Relations staff to promote peer-to-peer fundraising;Review supporter engagement strategies and make recommendations to ensure that segmentation supports campaign goals;Ensure that online communications are being effectively integrated with offline communications;Analyze the performance of digital campaigns and produce reports on lead acquisition and fundraising;Benchmark IRC online communications against other NGOs;Stay current on new technologies and techniques to identify opportunities and implement new approaches to improve online cultivation efforts in a rapidly evolving landscape;Monitor and improve e-mail database hygiene to maintain and increase deliverability rates;Refine, design and implement appropriate procedures, standards and templates in collaboration with Director of Digital Fundraising and other External Relations data and project management staff;Lead or participate in special projects as requested by the Director, Digital Engagement.

Education:

Work Experience:

5 years of Internet-related work experience, preferably in online fundraising, advocacy,. or marketing.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

Solid experience with customer relationship management (CRM) databases, web-based content management systems (CMS), SMS platforms and email delivery software; specific familiarity with Salesforce, Silverpop, Mobile Commons, PIDI and Raiser’s Edge a great plusGoogle Analytics and basic HTML experience preferred; Drupal and/or SQL skills a great plus;Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: the proven ability to communicate and liaise effectively and diplomatically with colleagues, vendors, and consultants;Solid organizational and time-management skills: the ability to plan for and manage multiple projects while working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment with strict deadlines;Proficiency with MS Office software (including Word, Excel, Access);Proven writing and editing skills;Flexible work attitude: ability to work productively and independently as well as in a team within a collaborative, demanding environmentIRC leading the way from harm to home.
