The Humanitarian Policy Group (HPG) at ODI is one of the world’s leading teams of independent policy researchers and communications professionals dedicated to improving humanitarian policy and practice in response to conflict, instability and disasters. Over the past 15 years, HPG has demonstrated its ability to both anticipate and respond to emerging issues in humanitarian policy, and to provide a critical link between academics, policy-makers and field practitioners.
Our HPG Communications Officer will contribute to and implement a strategic approach to communications to enhance the impact of HPG’s research on humanitarian policy and practice and further strengthen the effectiveness, awareness and reputation of HPG and the Humanitarian Practice Network (HPN). You will seek to engage new stakeholders and explore new means of communication to expand HPG’s reach and influence globally. You will be joining a dynamic team of three communications professionals, including a Senior Communications Officer and a Database and Membership Officer.
You will be educated to degree level, have a proven track record in similar communications work and be fluent in social media and web-based platforms. The successful candidate will need to be proactive in implementing HPG’s communication strategy and plans, and helping team members maximise their communications outputs. You will have excellent organisational and administrative skills, confident communication skills at all levels and the ability to prioritise a variety of tasks.
