1. Provide technical expertise in
- the development and maintenance of the AHO Portal;
- the incorporation of statistical data, and analytical profiles on the AHO Wiki platform and AHO Portal;
- the development of the AFRO Integrated Data Warehouse;
2. Facilitate networking and collaborative work within the AHO Portal;
3. Support the establishment & development of National Heath Observatories (NHOs) in AFRO Member States;
4. Assist in strengthening country capacities to develop information products for sharing in AHO Wiki and Portal;
5. Support the identification and sharing of country best practices on health information, evidence and knowledge management;
6. Manage AFRO's support to countries to adopt and implement eHealth policies and strategies, including strengthening country capacities;
7. Contribute to the Regional coordination of eHealth activities with WHO partners;
8. Effectively implement any other functions and responsibilities assigned by AHO and HSS.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: Post-graduate degree in Information Management, Geographic Information Technologies; and/or in Information Science and other knowledge related fields (demography, statistics, . ).
Desirable: Training in Health Information Systems and/or Health Observatory development. Training in leadership and management, informatics and project management. Knowledge in leadership, management and pedagogy.
Skills:
Proven experience to function within multi-disciplinary and multi-national teams. Extensive knowledge of the theory and practice in Health Information Systems, Health Observatories, health statistics and data analysis of strategic health interventions and services, health facility surveys; demography; planning, project management; monitoring and evaluation; Web development tools and Data base management systems. The incumbent should also demonstrate excellent skills in content/data management, Wiki platform development; good knowledge of information management. Ability to work with people of various cultural backgrounds. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationship. .
Experience:
Essential: 7 years of practical experience at national and international levels in data/information management systems with progressively responsible experience in development of health information & knowledge management systems. Extensive direct work experience in developing countries. At least 5 years of experience at international level with multilateral/bilateral agencies.
Desirable: . Substantial experience in developing health observatories, Information systems, eHealth strategies and applications, knowledge management planning and application in public health sector context. ; Experience in applied statistics, geographical systems and demography. Working experience with WHO would be an asset
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English or French and working knowledge of the other. Knowledge of Portuguese would be an asset.
Annual salary:
(Net of tax)
USD 67 611 at single rate
USD 72 605 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment:
65. 3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
