Visual Merchandising Clerk

Under the day-to-day supervision of one of the Team Supervisors and the general supervision of the Unit Head, utilizing the shelf space allocation program, the incumbent shall arrange all Commissary products in a professional, economical and attractive fashion to maximize sales. He/she shall design shelf stocking plans for all shelves in the Salesroom and the Cosmetics Boutique in order to utilize the space available in the best possible way. He/she is expected to physically arrange and replenish all products on the promotional areas, to perform also cashier duties and to perform all his/her routine duties independently.

Working Relationships

The incumbent interacts with Commissary customers of all levels on an on-going basis on day-to-day issues concerning the shop environment (e. g. product locations, prices, special offers, etc. ) and exchanges work-related information with other Commissary staff, especially with those from the Procurement and Invoice Control Units.

Functions / Key Results Expected

* Define, coordinate and optimize space usage, utilizing visual merchandizing technics and technology for all products in the Commissary, with a particular emphasis on seasonal, monthly and one-shot promotions. Design and maintain point-of-sale displays, stands and panels to promote products and to maximize sales. Provide guidance and support for salesroom teams in achieving consistent visual standards, installation and dismantling of shelf equipment and signage.

* Design and update three-dimensional representations of blocks of shelves and shelf plans by taking accurate measurements of all shelves and fixtures as well as of all products in the Salesroom and Cosmetics Boutique using the shelf space allocation program. Maintain the products database by including newly introduced articles and removing phased out ones based on the information received from Procurement Unit.

* Operate cash register scanning merchandise with barcode price label scanner; check if billed amounts match the number of items purchased; receive payments from customers which may be in cash or debit cards. Count received cash payments based on change indicated on the cash register, return accurate change to customers. At the end of the shift print out the end of day cash register slip and hands the total cash intake with the slip to the Supervisor. If required, collect change money from the bank and takes cash intake to the bank. Ensure proper maintenance of cash register and report problems to Supervisors.

* For products not labelled with barcodes, look up on the shelf label the relevant Commissary article numbers and keys them in by hand in the cash register.

* Ensure that only authorized persons are allowed to make purchases by checking grounds passes and pictures at the cash register. Interact with customers and addresses routine queries/complaints from customers; refer more complex queries/complaints to Supervisors.

* Receive and open cases received from the Warehouse; open and unpack merchandise, check expiry dates; ensure proper display of the merchandise, maintain a tidy Salesroom, stock and replenish shelves with new or transferred goods in accordance with the first-in-first-out principle and check intactness of packaging. Use mobile computing devices to check availability of stock and order maximum quantities from the Warehouse to ensure adequate stocking levels on the shelves.

* Backstop for Information Desk Clerk as for Information Desk duties are concerned.

* Assist in established book-stock adjustment procedures and take part in inventory taking.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Solid IT skills (design software, Email, Internet).

* Ability to sketch designs, develop floor plans and planograms.

* Ability to use computer-aided design packages to produce promotional material such as posters, fliers, tags, signage, etc.

* Good health, physical fitness and strength to carry out strenuous work.

* High degree of accuracy to identify & label merchandise as well as to handle cash transactions.

* Ability to concentrate for long periods of time and to work to tight deadlines.

* Strong customer orientation and the ability to deal with customers and staff at all levels in a professional manner.

Education, Experience and Language Skills

* Completed secondary education.

* Minimum of two years of working experience in the field of visual merchandizing, including cashier duties and operation of related Electronic Data Processing equipment.

* Experience in data entry applications and clerical/administrative experience.

* Working knowledge of English is essential. Knowledge of any other official language of the Agency (i. e. Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an advantage.

Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at 31 335 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), 6 weeks' annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance.
