Organizational background

The World Food Programme Somalia activities include food assistance for nutrition, livelihoods, relief and emergency school feeding, while also supporting humanitarian air and logistics services, food security coordination and infrastructure rehabilitation projects.

This position is open to qualified Kenyan nationals only. Female candidates in particular, are encouraged to apply.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programme Support and Processing, and the overall supervision of the Head of Programme, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

·         Implement WFP Somalia’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) strategy;
·         Develop and maintain effective M&E processes and practices in accordance with the WFP requirements;
·         Coordinate collection, analysis and reporting of M&E data and report findings to management;
·         Train and build capacity of WFP and other project staff on M&E systems and practices such as data analysis, reporting e.t.c;
·         Liaise and work closely with relevant units and teams within WFP and cooperating partners;
·         Conduct frequent field missions to provide M&E technical support;
·         Liaise with key professionals, NGOs and other UN agencies engaged in the field of food security, M&E and humanitarian assistance in Somalia;
·         Assist the Programme Managers in all matters related to the WFP programme activities and bring to the attention of appropriate staff any evolving emergency situations in the field;
·         Ensure a functioning and relevant beneficiary feedback system;
·         Supervise the M&E team in the WFP Somalia Country Office;
·         Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
University degree in one or more of the following disciplines: economics, agriculture, international affairs, business administration, social sciences, development studies or a field relevant to international development assistance.
Experience:
At least 3 years postgraduate professional experience in commerce, business administration, development, or food assistance support. Professional experience in monitoring, evaluation, training, capacity-building and reporting of development / humanitarian projects would be an added advantage.
Language:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English is a requirement.
Knowledge:
Experience using MS Excel, MS Word and MS Power Point. Knowledge of SPSS and/or other data management systems would be an asset. General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations and procedures governing administration.
