EmailThe Drosos Foundation is a private charitable organisation based in Switzerland aiming to improve the living conditions of people in difficult circumstances throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Since 2005, it has been working in direct partnerships with local civil society to bring tangible change. As an active and involved donor, the foundation complements financial support to projects with hands on capacity building and monitoring that is built on participation of all stakeholders. To manage our operations in Egypt, we are looking for a Country Director.
Main dutiesSafeguard the interests of the Foundation in EgyptDevelop, implement and manage the country programme in EgyptContribute to the identification, design, proposal, contracting, planning, monitoring, controlling and evaluation of projects supported and supervise the programme managersSupervise the financial and administrative staff on the proper operation of the officeEnsure productive relationships with government, international and civil society actorsRequirementsMaster’s degree or equivalentAt least 8 years relevant professional experience in areas of development and programme design (field and headquarter) on an international level and within the MENA-regionConceptual and analytical skills for developing a complex country programmeStrong working knowledge of English (oral and written) and fluency in Arabic is requiredDeep knowledge of methodologies and tools for planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in the development fieldAdvanced leadership and management skillsOfferThe position offers an outstanding opportunity to a motivated and entrepreneurial professional to make a tangible contribution to the development of the large potential of a lean, innovative and dynamic donor organisation in Egypt. The Country Director is based in Cairo, Egypt and leads a team of local professionals. Competitive compensation based on experience. We place great importance on the development of our employees and support continuing education. The successful candidate is expected to join the Cairo office in fall 2014 or upon agreement.
