The FBI must ensure our workforce is fully staffed to continue protecting our nation and combating crime. As a result, the FBI is committed to achieving FY 2014 hiring goals. Effective, May 5, 2014, FBI employees will be precluded from moving to another position within the Bureau by means of promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade unless the new position is career enhancing (Headquarters to Field Offices or Field Offices to Headquarters) or offers a greater promotional potential than the position in which they are currently serving.

Policy has been implemented wherein support employees entering a position through a competitive OR non-competitive action may be precluded from moving to another position within the Bureau by means of reassignment or change to a lower grade for a minimum of 12 months. This policy does not apply to probationary employees. Probationary employees are generally precluded from being considered for all job opportunities until their 12-month probationary period has concluded.

Relocation expenses will be borne by the selectee, except FBI employees returning from Legat assignment.

Generally, following a COST TRANSFER you will be eligible for transfer after completing three years in the assignment. Additionally, NO COST TRANSFER require a one-year assignment commitment to be eligible for further FBI transfers.

Employees returning from Legat assignment must advise the Staffing and Administrative Unit, International Operations Division, of their application for this position.

Management has the prerogative to select at any grade for which this position has been announced.

Identification of promotion potential in this announcement does not constitute a commitment or an obligation on the part of management to promote the employee selected at some future date. Promotion will depend upon administrative approval and the continuing need for an actual assignment and performance of higher-level duties.

Must be a United States Citizen.Must be able to obtain a Top Secret-SCI clearance.

* Serves as personal assistant to the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Dallas Field Office.

* Manages the SAC's office, to include the SAC's calendar of appointments for conferences/meetings, takes care of travel arrangements for SAC, screens all calls and visitors and answers most questions and completes most business involving established policy or routine matters without referring to the SAC.

* Receives and reviews all incoming correspondence requiring SAC's approval, for clarity, completeness of reply, factual consistency and responsiveness, as well as, grammatical and procedural correctness.

* Ensures practices and procedures utilized by all subordinate secretaries are consistent with those of the SAC and the Bureau, along with routing matters requiring action by other staff members to ensure timely completion.

* Recommends and implements changes in clerical and administrative policies and procedures of the office, along with providing accurate and timely advice pertaining to the SAC's instructions.

* Utilizes office automation software such as word processing, calendar, graphics, database management, electronic spreadsheet and other applications to generate a variety of correspondence, receives and transmits electronic messages and mail.

* Prepares studies which are significant to the SAC's role in policy making process; liaison matters; technical and legal matters; and contacts with the media.

Qualifications for the GS 9 grade level: Applicants must possess one year of SE equivalent to the GS 8 grade level. SE is:

* Reviewed incoming correspondence to determine proper action, and prepared some responses.

* Reviewed all outgoing correspondence prepared for supervisor's signature.

* Maintained supervisor's calendar.

* Provided advice on administrative procedures and requirements.

* Prepared non-routine reports, attended and recorded the minutes of meetings.

Qualifications for the GS 10 grade level: Applicants must possess one year of SE equivalent to the GS 9 grade level. SE is:

* Reviewed incoming correspondence to determine proper action, and prepared some responses.

* Reviewed all outgoing correspondence prepared for supervisor's signature.

* Maintained supervisor's calendar.

* Provided advice on administrative procedures and requirements.

* Prepared non-routine reports, attended and recorded the minutes of meetings.

*Conducted detailed research projects on specialized and complicated subject matters.


*Also required at both grade levels, must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

This position is designated as "emergency". As an "emergency" employee, you may be expected to report to work during periods of adverse weather conditions or other types of emergency situations when it is announced that an "unscheduled leave policy" is in effect or that federal agencies are closed in your immediate vicinity.
