Client was established in 1992.Client is a leading provider of technical and management expertise in the health and social sectors. We work in partnership with national and state governments, international development agencies, the private sector and civil society to strengthen programmes and policies to support the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in health and poverty reduction.

Our work focuses on providing expertise in sexual and reproductive health, maternal newborn and child health, HIV and AIDS, citizen voice and accountability, gender, social inclusion and equity to enhance institutional effectiveness to support strengthening of health service delivery.

Main Purpose of Job

The position will work within the BD team reporting to the Head of Business Development. This post will play a significant role in Client’ ambitious growth plans over the next 2-3 years, identifying and developing new areas of business (for example with institutional donors, foundations and corporates), establishing relationships with new clients, and supporting the development of new ‘products’ (tools, technical approaches…) and new markets.

Main Duties

Support the development and packaging of Client’ tools, technical approaches:

· Working with the Client Technical Team and rest of the BD team, conceptualise and package existing technical approaches and tools, e.g. PEER, QuIC.

· Support development of new ‘products’. Market scanning to identify potential gaps in the market. Work with the Technical Team to develop and package ideas and technical approaches into marketable ‘products’.

· Develop innovative and effective marketing collateral, materials etc. including printed materials, pages on website, presentations.

Marketing and client engagement strategy

· Support the marketing of Client existing products and approaches to existing and new clients, including donors, private sector clients, foundations. Develop effective messaging, and support the development of branding for different products.

· Participate in the identification of new clients, develop relationships (with the BD and technical team).

· Defining, developing and implementing a systematic approach to prospect/customer relationship management (in terms of channels such as email, social media and also content such as press releases, thought leadership, case studies).

· Contribute to reviewing the potential for Client to develop into new geographical areas – including review market, barriers to entry, required investment, develop strategy.

· Lead the development of marketing strategies for new products – including identifying potential clients, competitors, barriers to market entry, commercial viability

· Establish processes for defining, tracking and monitoring success of new products when taken to market.

Lead development of pitches, expressions of interest and proposals

· Support development of pitches, concept notes and expressions of interest to potential clients for new products

· Lead development of technical proposals for new business – including developing consortia, coordinating technical inputs, writing and editing, recruiting consultants, ensure proposals are submitted on time to a high standard. (focus on new markets/new business not ‘business as usual’ which is covered by the rest of the BD team)

· Develop budgets/prices for new products, and draft commercial proposals

General business development

· Contribute to the work of the BD team as required, in developing identifying, tracking and developing proposals for new opportunities, with a focus on supporting development of budgets and commercial proposals.

Person Specification

Qualifications

· Degree/Masters in Development Studies, Social Policy, Development Economics or similar field, or equivalent work experience – essential

Experience

· Excellent knowledge of and experience in fundraising from institutional donors, foundations and/or the private sector - essential

· Demonstrable track record of prospecting and winning large accounts/ businesses - essential

· Experience in coordinating expressions of interest, concept notes and technical proposals - desirable

· Technical understanding of Client areas of work to be able to work with the in-house technical team in development of products – desirable

Knowledge and Skills

· Proven ability to identify markets, develop strategy, develop relationships with new clients - essential

· A high level of commercial awareness, and budgeting and commercial proposal development skills - essential

· Native fluency in written and spoken English - essential

· Strong computer skills: facility with MS Word and Excel - essential

· Ability to develop marketing materials – written, presentations, web pages - desirable
