Trainee Graduate Engineers

Division: Power System Planning and development

The Company is looking for fresh Trainee Graduate Engineers who are eager to develop a challenging but rewarding career. The selected candidates will be expected to go through a one (1) year training programme.

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Option);
  • The applicants should have graduated from recognized University within the last two years with minimum of 2nd Class honours upper division;
  • The Candidate should have attained minimum K.S.C.E grade B+; and
  • Qualified persons of Female gender are encouraged to apply.

Division: Power System Planning and development

Overall Responsibility:

The Engineer will perform the following functions related to specific projects;-
  • Supervise transmission development works including planning, design and construction of lines and substations.
Key Tasks
  • The Engineer will perform the following functions related to specific projects;-
  • Supervise transmission development works including planning, design and construction of lines and substations. This will include participating in transmission line specification, route and substation site selection prior to commencement of the construction works and in evaluation of tender documents for the same.
  • Agree on the timescales, costs and resources needed to plan design and construct transmission lines and associated substations;
  • Draw up a detailed plan on how to achieve each stage of the project so as to minimize exposure and risk to delay; making sure that each stage of the project is progressing on time and on budget;
  • Lead and supervise the project implementation team and manage day-to-day project implementation operation aspects.
  • This will include preparation of periodical reports on project status and Report regularly on progress to the Financiers and Senior Managers;
  • Review and recommend for approval design proposals or any variation and/or changes during the project implementation process
Minimum Qualifications and attributes:
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil (Structural) or Electrical Engineering from a recognized University.
  • A Master degree will be an added advantage;
  • Be a Registered Engineer with the Kenya Engineers Registration Board (KERB);
  • Be a member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (MIEK) ;
  • At least ten (10) years working experience; five of which should have been in the design and construction of projects worth kshs.50 million and above; and
  • Have proficiency computer applications, other structural analysis and design software will be an added advantage.
Skills and personal attributes
  • Good communication skills both written and oral;
  • Good presentation skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; and
  • Willingness to work odd hours when necessary.
Project Accountant

Division: Finance and Accounts

Job Reference:KETRACO/5/1C/40/75 - B

Overall Responsibility:

Implementing proper accounting, monitoring and effective project management.

Key Tasks
  • Maintaining proper and up to date accounting records for projects
  • Analysis and monitoring of all project costs.
  • Ensure proper accounting and costing of project costs to the respective projects.
  • Monitoring project expenditure to ensure proper utilization of project funds.
  • Preparation of periodic project reports.
  • Preparation of cash flow forecasts for projects.
  • Processing of tax exemptions
  • Managing loans for projects
  • Participating in contract negotiations
  • Reviewing and follow up of contractor payments with respective financiers.
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications and attributes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce Accounting/Finance or equivalent
  • CPA (K)
  • Master’s degree will be an added advantage
  • At least 8years relevant experience
  • Experience in handling donor-funded projects will be an added advantage
  • A member of ICPAK in good standing.
Property Officer
 
Division
: Human Capital and Administration

Job Reference:

Overall Responsibility:

Ensure that Company assets and facilities are well maintained, accurately valued, records updated and produce timely, accurate reports.

Minimum Qualifications and attributes:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Land Economics or equivalent
  • Member of ISK
  • At least 7 years in property management
Key Tasks:
  • Ensuring all records for property and facilities are maintained
  • Coordinating field visits for Valuation
  • Ensuring property assets register is maintained
  • Ensuring valuation of assets to facilitate determination of rents, leases, and purchases
  • Ensuring registration and monitoring of movement of assets
  • Supervising, appraising and ensuring appropriate training of personnel
  • Advising organization on property management
  • Preparing reports as required
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
