Program Coordinator, Islamabad

PROGRAM BACKGROUND:

The IRC has been working in Pakistan since 1980. The IRC is leading a USAID-funded Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) to improve the quality of reading in public and private schools, supporting at least 2.5 million additional primary school students to read at a level commensurate with standards at their grade level. This goal will be supported by the mutually-reinforcing components of teacher education and professional development (PD), systems reform, and civil society engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Summary:

Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and monitoring of Component III which includes Small Grants Program for civil society organizations, Community Outreach for engagement of CBOs & Electronic & print Media campaigns to increase awareness of education programs. This includes review of work plan, program oversight, and technical oversight, budget management, reporting compliance and stake holder’s liaison. S/he reports to the Technical Director Component III

Specific Responsibilities:

Ensure that all program activities are well administered and implemented in accordance with the work plan.Liaison with related departments at national & regional level.Oversee program activities, ensuring forward planning and preparation for donor report writing, adherence with program requirements and timelines, and timely submission of narrative reports.Oversee and manage media campaigns relevant to the Component.Assist in the planning, coordination and/or participate in monitoring of implementing partners.Program activities of Component IIIProvide program related technical support to small grants program, community outreach staff & media partners

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:                 

Masters degree in Social Sciences or related field.

Work Experiences:    

5-7 years work experience in Program management or Experience of education related projects will be a plus.Experience with USAID regulation is a plus

Demonstrated Skills:

Strong understanding of sub grant & community mobilization.Demonstrable understanding of project planning and management cyclesDemonstrated monitoring and evaluation and implementation experience in media related projects

Language and Computer Skills:

Excellent English and Urdu Skills requiredAbility to use Microsoft Office and other relevant project management tools

Travel:

Some travel within country (10% of total time)
