You will become the technical visionary for overall platform development and software design for this well established online/ecommerce brand. You will lead and manage a team of software engineers to develop, implement and maintain Java based components to support technology and product roadmaps.

Key responsibilities for this Solutions Architect/Team Manager role will include:

• Providing the vision, proposal, design and delivery of technical solutions; acting as the core technical authority
• Designing the technical architecture to meet the demands of the business; working closely with the Technology Director and senior engineers across all locations globally to ensure optimal technical architecture is in place
• Own, develop and maintain technology roadmap
• Define application objectives by analysing user requirements; envisioning system features and functionality
• Lead the design and development of core components – managing the on shore software development team
• Recommend new system solutions including new technologies that may be beneficial to the business
• Be fully engaged in the software development lifecycle by coordinating requirements, schedules and activities
• Take accountability for the entire code base and the consistency of new development

To be suitable for this Solutions Architect position you will have a strong Java development background coupled with man management experience. You will ideally have worked within an international online or ecommerce business previously and managed both on and off shore teams. You will have gained circa three years’ experience as a Solutions Architect; taking full responsibility for single software design across multiple complex systems. Whilst this role will involve acting as the technology visionary you MUST be comfortable working in a hands on capacity. You will need to have excellent Java SE programme skills with exposure to JEE. You MUST demonstrate expertise in problem solving and technical innovation across design and coding and will have strong, practical experience across the following technologies:

• Spring Java framework experience
• Linux Java stack and relational databases
• Strong knowledge of at least one classic scripting language i.e. Perl or Python
• Knowledge of at least one fast processing language i.e Scala or Erlang
• Apache foundation projects: MQ,CXF, Solr
• Solid understanding of CI tools
• SOAP, XML/HTTP, RESTful HTTP
• Front end technologies: jQuery, Bootstrap, SASS/LESS
