NCA has been rendering humanitarian and development assistance to people in the Middle East for decades, and is currently responding to the crisis in Syria with humanitarian assistance to war affected populations in Syria and the neighbouring countries.

NCA is now seeking a Security Coordinator for a new program for war affected Syrians. The objective for the position is to ensure updates security analyses, plans and procedures for programme and staff of the operation in close collaboration with partners and Team Leader.

Job descriptionThe security coordinator will be responsible for the security risk management of the organisation's regional Syria program, currently covering programs in Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. The successful candidate will report to the Team leader in the region, whom the security coordinator will advise on all security related issues and decisions. Responsibilities include: periodic risk assessments of projects, evaluations, security reporting and analysis, development of security procedures and security plans. The security coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining partner dialogue and execute assessments. He/she will act as the security focal point and conduct security briefings, trainings and exercises for all staff. The position is region based and travelling should be expected.QualificationsRelevant academic qualifications and practical experience with security risk managementPrevious work experience in emergency relief and NGO programsPrevious work experience with the Middle East and the Syria conflictDemonstrated ability/experience in working cooperatively with local partners and authoritiesDemonstrated experience providing capacity building and monitoring of staffExcellent written and oral English language skillsKnowledge of Arabic is an assetPersonal qualitiesExcellent interpersonal skills, including cultural sensitivity, diplomacy and tactResilience, flexibility and adaptability to work successfully under stressful conditionsAbility to time manage and multitask and deal with demands and close deadlinesThe applicant must be loyal to Norwegian Church Aid's Christian value baseWe offerGood retirement and insurance benefitsA professional and positive working environment with passionate and engaged colleaguesMiscellaneous infoStart date for employment: 01.07.2014End date for employment: 02.07.2015

The Security Coordinator is based in the Middle East and reports to the regional team leader.
